Lister Arms at Malham in the yorkshie dales

The Lister Arms has been welcoming visitors to the idyllic village of Malham since the 17th century when it was built by Thomas Lister of Gisburn Park as a traditional coaching inn. Many of the original features have been carefully preserved, including a large Inglenook fireplace complete with wood-burning stove – a welcome sight for chilly walkers in the autumn and winter months.

Set right on the village green, it’s a perfect spot for morning coffees, a light lunch or something more substantial – food is seasonal, local and all freshly prepared with daily dishes to showcase the finest produce from Yorkshire suppliers. Current menus are always available on the website –

Enjoy a pint of Thwaites award-winning cask ales – including the ever-popular Wainwright, plus guest beers and seasonal ales are on offer. There’s an extensive wine by the glass selection and a good value wine list to select from too and free WiFi throughout.

Children, well-behaved dogs, muddy boots and cycles are all welcome in the bar – and the dining room can be hired for private parties too.

Guest rooms are quaint and cosy, all en-suite and some with stunning views of the village and Malham Tarn
