Mill Top

Self-Catering Holiday Apartment for 2 people in Malhamdale, Yorkshire Dales National Park

“Mill Top” is a sunny, second floor apartment at the front of the mill, with views across the garden to the river and down the valley, where the footpath rises over the fields to Kirkby Malham. In addition there is a patio which is a real sun trap and plenty of other places where you can sit outside and enjoy a drink, a picnic or read a book. You are also free to wander through the eight acres of grounds which include gardens, woodland, a mill leet and pond.

The first building down-river from the source of the River Aire, Scalegill is about a mile from Malham village and walks from the site include those to Malham Cove, Gordale Scar and Janet’s Foss. Birdlife is prolific, with dippers nesting under the building, heron fishing in the river, goldfinches, peregrine falcon at the cove, and many other species easily spotted. And, if you are lucky, you may even see kingfishers.

The local pub, “The Victoria”, is within walking distance – 10 minutes over the fields, 15 minutes along the lane. It is a real ‘locals’ pub, serving Real Ale and good food, and has a particularly good reputation for steaks and fish-and-chips.
